If I haven't got my childhood movies confused, then I would think that "oompa,  loompa" might be more suited to be used elsewhere.  The delusions of grandeur suffered by that poor old Wizard of Oz kinda remind me of a similarly deluded Australian.

Actually, it *was* "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" - both versions of the movie (the one from the '70's, and then just re-released recently)...  :)  Unless you go of course by the book, which was named "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"...  (Did a book report on it YEARS ago in school - what a chore that was....)

Anyway, to get back on topic - I posted a logo in the "Logo" thread that has a slogan, and I thought I'd post it here... Not sure if anyone came up with it yet, but I was thinking of using "Set your sites on it!" as a slogan for something I was working on.  I'll be more than happy to give it up for the cause - not that it'd be accepted by any means, but if it is I am more than happy to think up of a new one for the stuff I'm working on... ;)

I kinda like it though - neat little "play on words"....

Anyway - that's my contribution.  LOL  Hope you like it, and the logo (though I think Peek's contribution beats mine hands-down!)....

"All together now" doesn't need to be seen as touchy-feely.  To me it implies that we have an infrastructure that puts all of the important parts of a site together into one cohesive framework... i.e.  It's all together now!

For fun:  Joomla! - It's not the fork!

Serious: Joomla! - Simply Content

Dave, the book was called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The Gene Wilder version of the movie changed the title, the Tim Burton one retained the original title.

And I was confused about munchkins and oompa loompas!  LOL

Now, all we need is someone clever to come up with a "oomla, joomla" song.  Wonder if we can get Johnny Depp to endorse Joomla! :)

[me=Elpie]can almost guarantee a LOT of interest from female web designers if he did. Rolls eyes![/me]

Exactly the intention.

From Joomla.org
The name Joomla! is a phonetic spelling for the Swahili word "Jumla", which means "all together" or "as a whole".

You're right, We have same phonetic.

In my Country Indonesia, JOOMLA mean JUMLAH = Total (value)
Seem like "Jungle" Words.. :)

I Think, JOOMLA is Totally OpenSource Matters
Bring your life(CMS) to the perfect future
or JOOMLA! Simplified Perfect

Enjoy.. :)

should the slogan be to attract new Users or retain old users ?

I guess to start retain old users.

The word Together would be important then.

Actually there's a nice groovy track by The Farm ... used in Euro 2004.

Remember boy that your forefather's died
Lost in millions for a country's pride
But they never mention the trenches of Belgium
When they stopped fighting and they were one

A spirit stronger than war was working that night
December 1914 cold, clear and bright
Countries' borders were right out of sight
When they joined together and decided not to fight

All together now
All together now
All together now, in no man's land

All together now
All together now
All together now, in no man's land

The same old story again
All those tears shed in vain
Nothing learnt and nothing gained
Only hope remains

All together now
All together now
All together now
In no man's land
All together now
All together now
All together now
In no man's land .....

The boys had their say they said no
Stop the slaughter let's go home,
let's go, let's go

Listen The Farm - All Together Now

Now All Together Now ... let's Joomla!

Joomla! People CMS.

Joomla! Best of the best!

What I have in mind is keep the meaning of the original mambo slogan: "power in simplicity"

Just like Adidas campaign "impossible is nothing" that came from the old slogan "nothing is impossible",
but the meaning is similar.
So I came up something with:
"simple yet powerful"
"impact minus complexity"
"empowering your cms" (change cms to site if too-technical)

OR

Joomla! - "The Real Mambo" (useful if people search for "mambo" and Joomla! will come up top,
hopefully mambo word is not copyright-ed)

OR (non-serious one)  ;D

Joomla! - "Rambo over Mambo"
(Because Rambo often refer to power as in the movie and in my opinion Joomla! in the long term
will become much more powerful than the current M*mbo)

BTW, "jumlah" (pronounced like joomla) is also an Indonesian word meaning total, sum or as a whole. interesting coincidence...
