Re: New Logo
There is no deadline set at the moment because there's currently no competition and hence no ground rules layed out. This thread is more of a creative outlet to gather some ideas and to provide a place for the community to let us all know their ideas about visually representing the new name. We intend to put together some more formal rules and requirements and launch an official 'logo submission' thread in the near future.
btw, all the core devs I talk to check this thread...

If you need a judge... just let me know. If not, no biggie. Hopefully my points will be reviewed.
Still like the various hand iterations. Doesn't have any offensive over-tone that I'm aware.

was this how the name was going to go? i should probably not say anything but so many people posted on the new name thread for nothing - are all these pages for nothing also?
and wahy wasn't joomla added to some other names for it be voted on instead the decision made behind closed doors (feels very miroish to me)

I like that... it seems like a somewhat more abstract interpretation of peek's hand, which I also really like. Your's also has the feeling (to me) of a smile.

Because had we mentioned joomla in public, the domain squatters/hijackers would have taken all of the domains. By making the decision in private, it was possible for us to secure the top level domains, as well as make a gesture to existing community members to secure their new domains as well. This - for the most part at least - went quite smoothly, but again we were forced to make that decision in private because of the domain poachers.
The logo is a completely different subject however, and that is why this thread was started.

Re: New Logo
err... okay.. i got about 400+ logos with me to add in the gallery. Hopefully if everything is okay, it will be up in a couple of days.
I think we also can have a "hot! or not!" poll there.
The gallery will be at joomlageek.com

Re: New Logo
farimi,
It is important to avoid slogans as the focus is about logo... (as I've always said if you want a slogan please make it multi-lingual) - and the poll is for the logo and not for any slogan inside there

Re: New Logo
hi newart.
Although i couldn't agree with you more about slogans... it is something that is not under my control. I just want to do a gallery so that we can have the power to choose and vote.
I am not suggesting that any of our pick will be the dev team favourites. But it will help them to narrow the choices they have to make after that. Thats all.
Again, i am not going to say that we are having a good presentation of the logos ( maybe yes, maybe not) through the gallery as the are various type of sizes and dimensions of them and some are with slogans and some are not.
Maybe you will find logos that are repeatedly posted and looks the same as many people took one work and adding his/her own special touch on it. Anyway, as i said before, it is for us to categorize and narrow them to which is 'acceptable' and which is 'not so acceptable'.
Of course the decisions of how or at what level the logo should be acceptable or not is depends on us.
Again i would like to stress, the logos sent is not edited by me. I don't want people to be mad at me.
By the way... nice logos sinanata. keep up the good work.

Re: New Logo
Weeeell.
I'm not sure about how well this one works.
It is a raw sketch. But I thought the unity statue needed some more stylized vector version.
I send it out if anyone wants to pick upp the ball.
