Can't take the credit for the initial design on this, but I took the hand from a previous post and cleaned it up a bit and added the text. I switched up the colors and got rid of the brown in place for purple. Colors follow the color wheel also. This version will reproduce well in black and white.

I personally like this one the most, because it is so simple on the one hand and says so much on the other.

err... okay.. i got about 400+ logos with me to add in the gallery. Hopefully if everything is okay, it will be up in a couple of days.

as i said before, the gallery is on its way... i collected about 500++ pictures all kind of size, dimensions, pixels, and some of them need to be sorted out. I understand if Gil Rutkowski need time assorting them. Please bear with us and be patient. I'm sure Gil is on it right now. As for the gallery, i think it is going to be a great presentation.

I sure we can see the logos very soon.

Nice work, lannick. Maybe it will be a little anonymous if it's a lot smaller? Do some tests.
And also, on #3 the heads make it look like they are leaning over the globe, so in that way I think #2 is better, they are standing more tall, so to speak. Something in between #2 & #3? Keep it up.

I'm very interested about how you have made that... font, software and so on. Do you use perhaps photoshop CS?

Everything is done using CorelDraw Graphics Suite 12. While working on some graphic work (full-time); the logo just crawled into my mind; and that distracted me from my actual work. So started customising some fonts, slicing, trimming & twisting shapes around to get the 2nd version, in less than an hour!

The rest of the shadow, emboss, bevel effects are done using Photoshop 7.0.

Well, download CorelDraw Tryout and have a go with it! Who knows what might crawl into your workspace...

I'm really liking this one.  I really like the concept, works great with the meaning of Joomla, plus it is really simple, yet so descriptive!  Not set on the colors, but the design i love!  And it does scale very well.. even down to 16x16 but the yellow lacks defintion.  I think better contrasting colors would make all the difference though.

Darn, just had it pointed out to me that Lannick's design is VERY similar to Ubuntu's.  To tell you the truth i'de never noticed ubuntu's logo representing people, but looking at it again, the symbolism is almost identical.

I agree with you, Ubuntu logo have the same symbolism. I am a user of ubunto; so ....

But in mine it is the union of people around the earth, there is no earth in ubuntu logo. It is the community of Joomla for all the world.

I am going to try other colors to have more contrast.

Perhaps if you also added some more to the earth part - to give the sense of continents (not necessarily actually making it look like a globe, I think more abstract than that would be fine).
