How much disk space is required for installation?

I did look, honest, but I couldn't find anything relating to how much space is required for the installation, and that's what I need to know.  You buy a piece of software and on the box it tells you how much free space you should have on your PC.

I have an account with an ISP which offers 50MB of 'free web space'.  All ISPs do it; some offer more more space, some less.  So, I figure it might be good to have a better than average personal web page on my 50MB, and Joomla looks good.  But I really do get the impression that installation might take a huge amount of space.  (I didn't know it had to be installed as part of my 50MBs.)  And consequenlty am wondering how much space I might have left for my web content files.

50Mb will be fine.  A typical installation uses somewhere between 8 - 10Mb if I remember rightly.

Just be careful about images.  All our clients blow their storage with huge images!

Thanks for that.  I'm obliged to you.  I can now get on with the installation.  I think that would be a useful thing to add to the Joomla front page of your web site, right next to the 'download' button?  It would be reassuring to first timers.
