You seem intent on directing the flow of conversation for some reason.  Please don't do that. 

Might I remind you that this is my topic. Wouldn't I be the best to define whether or not the topic responses are still on my topic?

No.  I don't think you are the best to define whether or not the topic responses are still on topic.  It isn't your topic.  It isn't your thread.  This a community.  Either you wish to participate as a community member or you don't.  No one owns threads. 

Please do not try to dictate the flow of conversation.

You are making my case that there is a problem with modding and engaging so passionately and repeatedly in a discussion. It is not possible IMO to do. You are active in so many of these passionate discussions but, for the most part, you are not modding (i.e., enforcing the rules), you are proposing a specific viewpoint.

But then, you'll delete a post or say someone said something wrong or violated a rule (these are nearly always subjective judgments) and I am not sure if I am interacting with you as an equal community member or, am I supposed to obey you since you are a moderator. It gets very stressful and, to be honest, intimidating and I start to feel like I am being bullied.

I am afraid this has become a rather pressing problem with your modding IMO.

Amy the choice is yours to contribute as a community member or to not do so.  You have the options.  I don't know how much plainer it can be explained to you, as it has been numerous times.

I feel passionate about this discussion yes.  I have in fact moderated on this thread in defense of you.  I am sorry if you feel that I shouldn't have.  I respond as a Moderator when the rules are being brought into play as your EDIT: multiple: report :s:  asked me to.

Threads are not usually closed at the request of anyone.  They are usually just left to go the way of threads that are older.. they move the next page.  Closing a thread is a last option, and usually only done when there are serious rule infractions going on.  Please do not spread misinformation regarding how threads are handled.

We are equal community members.  At least I hope you feel I am as equal as you.

I am not asking for your defense. That is not what modding is, Jenny. I shouldn't need defense. (Plus, I don't know what this "defense" possibly is, but, that is besides the point.) You responded to my "pointless one liner" report to moderator by adding words to your "No" post. Is that your idea of modding? Adding language to your pointless, argumentative post?

Jenny - you did not answer my questions.  IMO, you are not able to moderate *and* engage passionately in these discussions. No one can! You intimidate me when you do this because you very passionately plead your case so very many times that it is honestly spamming - you put words into other peoples mouths and argue against it when those points where NEVER raised (ex. the equal rights issue and earlier you said I told Mike he couldn't post because he was a man?) and by doing so you flame the thread repeatedly (spamming again). It's a bit like a set of attack dogs when you and Mike go at it -- and -- you do it a lot! It's a bad habit and it is silencing other voices. It makes it SCARY for us to participate because you use your moderator power many times that are IMO questionable (and this is bullying.)

You do not need to wish me well, Jenny. If you treat me according to the rules and don't put words in my mouth and our relationship will improve. I came back (since it was asked) because Mike said "I know Amy thinks..." and I am here to speak for myself and I hope not to be censored in the process.

It was a heartbreaking decision to leave, Jenny. If you wished me well, in the three months (nearly) that I was gone, you could have inquired as to how I was doing.

A conversation about Joomla being and needing a killer app was twisted into "the community has to have a larger say in what Joomla does" and "How does the community TAKE CONTROL of the project and 3PDs" We need a "COMMUNITY CENTRIC" Project!!!

When it was pointed out that we did have one and how community in other projects is usually defined as a COMMUNITY OF CODERS not just a society of users and that the definition of community in the statement of COMMUNITY CENTRIC meant that anyone in the community who had a good idea and could implement that idea had a say in what the project did and how it operated it got taken off on this gender bender subject and then had to be split again!

1 - It mentioned the ratio of men to women which has very little to do with how Joomla is managed, operated or supported. It has to do with how society itself has been molded because women for centuries had been told "you are DIFFERENT from men, THINK different than men and do not possess the aptitude for doing TECHNICAL things"!
We ALL (well most of us anyway) know that line of bull is just plain wrong and is the ROOT CAUSE of the problems women face today!

2 - It said Women communicate differently from men. Well Brad communicates much differently than I do, MMM communicates much differently than you do. we ALL INDIVIDUALLY communicate differently than another user. It is not justification for attempting to classify and segregate people based on how ANOTHER feels they should be classified!

3 - It was said Women think differently than men, JoomlaCoach thinks differently than I do, MMM thinks differently than you do....My position is in line with what another woman (who I might point out is actively involved in the community) while your position is the same as a man's position. Where is this difference of thought? It doesn't exist as stated the only difference between the thought proccess of men and women is the same difference as exists between one individual and another irregardless of their gender!

Is there really a gender problem or is it that someone is looking for a protest support group and using the creation of division in the community to gain more power?

Now the subject is turned again to moderating in the lounge....
Again an attempt to make another GRASS ROOTS EFFORT to FORCE CHANGE and GAIN POWER!

It is a common thread and a consistent theme with some users...

And it is forcing threads to be split 3 times in an effort to keep the conversation ON TOPIC....

If there is a problem with how boards are being moderated, the problem isn't how it's moderated it is in how some people try to constantly push a "GET ME POWER without forcing me to CODE"  agenda into every subject discussed!

Power is never BESTOWED it has to be taken! The only thing someone can give you is the OPPORTUNITY to take power...
In the case of Joomla that opportunity is given in the guise of OPEN SOURCE CODE!
Anyone has the keys to affect change in the project!
Only thing that can stop you from affecting change is your own inadequacies and technical experience!

There is a third way made available here that isn't as difficult as the DO IT YOURSELF method...
and that is to make suggestions and hope you inspire someone else to implement your idea!
But that only works if the request is made politely and in the spirit of UNITY...
It does not work when it is put in the form of an IMPERATIVE or an ORDER!

Which is why some users fail to ever get what they desire!

Moderators - please deal with this repeated offender of the rules in Joomla.org. I am tired of these attacks.

Sorry to disappoint you Amy but the entire world and every conversation it has does not revolve around you!

that was not an attack on you it was an attack on the practice of people PUSHING AGENDAS and taking subjects so off topic that they need to be split by the mods to maintain some semblence of order in the community!

By pushing their own agenda onto other conversations they are taking the coversation into a direction that needs to be split off!
