images on frontend not displaying and error document not found

Hi,
the images on the frontpage of joomla.org are not being displayed. When I try to go to them directly I get:
You don't have permission to access /images/stories/our_news/chris_davenport.jpg on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
