Just a brief note, that should not concern all honest users of our forum. We are cracking down on users who make use of disposable email addresses to disguise their identity etc.

We NEVER sell, or use your email address for any purpose other than to notify you of forum activity (if you choose to subscribe etc), and you can even choose to hide it from all users (in your forum profile), so there is no excuse for users who make use of disposable email addresses.

To avoid being banned, if you did use a disposable email address, simply change your email address in your profile and you will be fine.

Aren't ALL yahoo, hotmail etc emails "disposable" emails?
Why pretend, and why be disingenuous?

I indexed your post to point out two disappointing elements:

Are you claiming that people with a 'disposable email' are in some way 'dishonest'? under what criteria? Have they stolen anything from you (theft?  ) registered to promote illegal activities, subvert the Fatherland or promote spam?

Ayy, like the old German proverb, "The Devil is in the details" here we have the ominous "etc" which hints of dark,nefarious deeds (unspecified) committed no doubt, under cover of darkness, even if we are to assume, arguendo, that enforcing a modicum of privacy is a "very bad thing"

2.  Don't your own TOS state that you can 'change the rules' at any time without notice?
Obviously, the email addresses can be 'used' for other purposes if you change your mind at a later date.

At anytime, obviously, the Joomla Foundation can decide to become a commercial entity, and the million member database will then become a valuable resource.

What if members choose NOT to subscribe to posts,and threads?

Don't pretend to be 'fair' and to not be 'singling anyone out' just DO whatever you want to do, as arbitrarily as you like, edit posts and PM's and any content (retroactively) to support your arguments and ban the accounts so they cant respond nor reply?

For instance, how about editing THIS post and fill it with obscenities or, even better, edit it and say something like

[mod edit] Text removed for sexually offensive,pornographic, self promotional comments VVvPedia

That way, you can have a nice little 'defamation by moderation action going ' all very slick, albeit in a 1984, Orwellian way

I assume tht Brad made this announcement for specific reasons and I fully support him in his actions. Brad has over the last year and more proven to be a hard working and diligent moderatorr/administrator of tese forums and I am sure he wuold not have made this decision without due cause

Seriously, If someone says 1+2=5 and therefore we must do 'x' and someone else, say, me?
points out the utter fallacy in the equation statement, you respond with how hard working he is?

Of course he is hard working, who could say otherwise? We were not discussing 'work ethic' (or play ethics if Joomla is but a hobby) but transparancy and 'honesty' and the difference between saying the truth and not!

What's wrong with being a dictator? Why feign democracy? Why not simply say, we (I) rule the sandbox and will do or say whatever we like and need no reason?

You have responded to none of my arguments except to jump and swear continued allegiance.
But even as you reflexively snap your heels together and raise your arm high, is it really relevant?
No doubt, this thread and the posts within it will disappear in due course and will then never have existed.

For crying out loud! That's completely uncalled for, very unfriendly and frankly, obnoxious! The reference to Hitler, alone, ... It is so frustrating to see this behavior in these forums. I am not even certain what you hope to gain by this. If you have a need, let's get what you need taken care of, otherwise, this type of attack hurts our community.

Dude - please apologize and maybe we can get all of the posts removed following Brad's announcement. As a warning, if you continue in this direction, you will not enjoy the forums. That isn't a threat - I don't "work here." It's just a heads up that no one likes to be attacked like this and *you* are staging a battle!

Let me just say I looked up your wikidefinition and I am not a puppet (sock or otherwise) but most likely,phonetically, an ass,old!

You know me and that I can be a bit curt sometimes and I dont suffer fools gladly. My sense of humour while all do not find it funny at all times, its funny enough for some every once in awhile and funny to me! (and I poke fun at myself as readily as at anyone).

However, I do have a personality, ( such as it is, even BAD luck is nonetheless luck!) and I don't care to be an androgynous forum clone.

Frankly, and similarly, a few of the moderators are quite rude,self aggrandizing and have run amok as well.

To have 'the posts removed' after the announcement is the kind of Orwellian revisionism of which I speak

Someone posts "Hey, tell me what you think of my incredible forum" and you say, frankly "umm dude, it looks rather ugly" (and then humourously, "it looks so UGLY, I use it to shave with instead of a mirror! "

I think that that's quite funny, and I am appalled at my humorous comments being edited/replaced with 'OFFENSIVE COMMENTS REMOVED' which is not only untrue, dashes any hope at a successful comedy career (the Marriage counseling thing for some reason, not quite taking off as planed )
