User registration br0ken

The user registration on forge.joomla.org is br0ken - after submitting the values, the page does nothing for a long time. The confirmation email is beeing sent, but, however, using the activation link spits out an errormsg.
BTW I do not understand, why I have to have TWO logins - is this forum NOT synced with the forge.joomla.org account?
