It would  be great to have an event at your place. May be I can help even with a venue I need to check. Where in Nicaragua are you?

Alex

I really don't know if there is a local translation team partner around.

I am in Managua.

I know many web development companies in Nicaragua that are using Joomla for many websites.

As far as I know, there are two translation partners, and their websites are owned by spaniards. Joomla! has no translation team partners, just Official Translation Partners, WEBSITES, and Joomla! project can't and does not want to be responsible for local communities/sites/teams.

do you know if there is a local translation team partner around?

Can someone explain me in a few words why we need to contact your partners (website owners) to run an event? Have they any kind of priority or monopoly (the fact that the hosting site is commercial or not is irrelevant here for Joomla!)?

Its just down to the joomladay charter. (not sure if that is publicaly visible)

Basicaly there is a section in the charter to allow translation partners first refusal at operating a joomladay.

As there isnt one in nicaragua then this shouldnt be a problem.

Alex is doing exams right now so might be a short while before he responds here.

Just a brief comment.

The Charter is public available I just don't have a place to put it well yet. If you send me a PM with your mail or a mail, I will send you a copy of it.

Yes as Brian described - we want to give the Official Translation Partners a bit of a word in those events. They put in a lot of work for the translations and know their community quite well too.

If there is nobody around - don't worry that's fine too. It is just a common question.

Alex

PS: Thx Brian for helping out

PM sent, akede.

It would be better to post the draft, IMO. Thank you (and good luck with your examination and the results ;)).
