Forge Downtime Update

We have been in contact with VA support engineers. They know the cause of the problem that is making Forge slow, creating downtime for all involved. They will have to make some pretty drastic changes to Forge to make this happen. This will take at least another 48 hours. Again, our apologies for the disturbance in server.

Thanks for the update Tonie. Must be frustrating for you not to be able to get your hands on it yourself to fix it.

Can I suggest that the download for joomla 1.0.12 is temporarily made available from the main servers. It must be really frustrating for people to find joomla for the first time and then not get a copy. Extensions you can wait for but joomla itself...

Hi there,

just a thought from me, howbout invovling Official Partners when something happens to the Froge?
For Expample we have two Version Only and ready for Download
1. Official Version
2. Patche Version with German Lang. files

I guess this could be worth thinking about ?

Cheers

Pete

For the moment, Joomla 1.0.12 can be downloaded from the community members in this download:

http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic ... #msg689016
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic ... #msg688948

Hopefully this doesn't kill their bandwidth ;).

@ghosty
At the moment, no single resource on the Joomla! websites is fault tolerant. When this is solved structurally, we will evaluate and see what might be done to stop this. Forge alone is probably handling about 2TB of bandwidth a month, and we do expect this to become even bigger in future.

@brian
Can't do anything about the main servers right now. I've been a systems engineer for quite a few years. It's a challenge to have a problem like this, not being being able to do anything about it. I really hope the sytem engineers at VA find a good solution for this.

I know I am getting on people's nerves with this question as you guys are having problems anyways. But could you maybe give some kind of timeframe when VA would MAYBE be done with fixing things?

I am trying to register a new user account on forge to post comments and questions to extension authors which isn't possible as I always get the contact system administrator message after I click "Register" and after clicking the activation link in the email (yes I still receive the email even though it gives out an error after registering).

In this, my guess is as good as yours. Do you need anything special from Forge?

Thx for the quick honest reply.

No nothing special, just support for some modules (e.g. JEvents) where they have a nice discussion board on Forge... I might just try the forums here but I thought I'd go with the official ones. I guess I'll just keep waiting like you

Hey, I'm new to Joomla, just trying it out (switching from Dragonfly CMS) and so far it's GREAT! I like the clean interface and integration, however I'd love to get some extensions and things installed. It sucks to hear that you guys are having problems with your download host, but is there any kind of update?

Otherwise, so far I know I would like the Joomlaboard Forum Component, so if anyone would be kind enough to send it to jedisabriel @ yahoo.com you would totally rock :)

does anyone know when the forge is supposed to be back up?  I wanted to upgrade Joomlaboard to the latest stable version today (I guess they just recently released 1.1.5) but the only place I can find to download it is on the forge.

Not the end of the world but I would like to know.

EDIT: oops, found it
For anyone else looking for Joomlaboard, looks like Google Code actually has a copy of it:

Does anyone have this component that is SUPPOSED to be available at forge?  I would be so thankful for it!

I'm having severe trouble finding a Joomla 1.5 Spanish Language Pack for the administrator. I'm teaching a client how to maintain their website, but they dont speak english which is making this week's training session another case of really bad timing for the Forge site to go down.

I'm under the impression that what i need is here: http://forge.joomla.org/sf/frs/do/viewSummary/projects.joomla_translations
I;ve searched and searched but cannot seem to come up with anything other than the Forge that has the files i need.

Your help is VERY much appreciated!

I think this news should be published on the main Joomla homepage. Many people don't know it, including me until today.
I hope it can be soon repaired.  :'(

If someone could email the Attend Events module (office @ canadakicks.com) it would be much appreciated - not life or death but it means I can keep moving forward on a project  :pop

Update is the same as it was before. We are not happy with the situation, especially since we can't change too much about it ourselves at the moment. I can create an update every day, but as long as nothing changes there is not too much to update information about. My daily work is about keeping systems running smoothly, do you think I like this situation?

Sorry Tonie don't get this wrong. I love the work you're doing and I guess ur having not have the best time these days. Just wondering if there was something new...
I support the idea that somebody posted, to have some kind of news on the mai page about forge currently experiencing problems.

Heads up man, we're all hoping the best and I'm sending some energy your way ;)

I had HUGE dl problems too, for days now...

Guys, I don't have a clue why this is happening (hope yu have); what I can say is that Joomla! is so useful to me (and I think it's for LOTS of people) that I would be happy to make a relevant donation, if this can help switching to newer, better hosting.

What I need now is

- a complete JCE 1.1 suite (with all plugins)
- GREEK frontend language pack
- PORTOGUESE language pack

All of this is on the Forge.

If someone can help, IM me a link on Skype or another service or mail me alt joomla @ jmm.it

Thanks a lot
