Searching the forum

Where I have used search at other websites, if I enclose the search terms within quotes, the search results will be only those that show the enclosed words exactly as shown within the quotes.  Yet, the search options within this forum appear not to work like this, as when I tried doing this I seem to have gotten "any of the search terms" rather than "exact match".  And, within the "advanced search" option, there is also no option for "exact match"....Hmmm....Any thoughts?

Sorry that I don't have anything to add to this, but I'm another user interested in the same question!

I try to search forums extensively before I post about something (to see if an existing post answers or addresses the topic) but I often have trouble finding things here because I can't seem to search for a "phrase".  I've tried both single and double quotes and I never get the topmost results I would expect (even when searching for known content as a test, like my own past posts).

Am I missing something?  Is there a syntax I should be using?  Thanks to anyone who can answer this! :)

The current search daemon we have running does have limitations. If you want to search this forum on a phrase, please use google and restrict searching to this site only.

Thanks.
