NGO web site with lots of club pages how to do this!

A very newbie to Joomla and CMS, I would welcome some feedback on how to achieve the following"
The site is a Women's International NGO group, headoffice in Sydney with clubs (184) spreadthroughout the South West Pacific nations. current web site was developed in 1998. We would like to have the main public face of the web site, and then have club pages up to 3 pages for each club, these pages would be public with at least one page which would be members only (members of the particular club) for posting of discussion, minutes, correspondence etc. this would be a log in area. We also require that a nominated member of each club have author rights, to their club pages only. Each club would keep their own contacts list, viewable by all members of the organisation if they have rights to log onto this club page.
Each club would require their own calendar for events, but the current events from each club should feed into the event calendar on the front page of the organisation. (is this a big wish!)
Any pointers on how to achieve some or all of the above would be most welcome.
