Unable to login to joomla.org

I can login to the Forum on the Joomla site using my usual login name and password but not the main site so I can post a comment on an extension. When I try and ask for the password it doesn't recognise me. When I try and create a new registration using a different username but the same email address, it tells me the email address is already in use, click for the password. When I do this it doesn't recognise the email, and then I go round in a loop and there is no one to ask for help - except here, I hope ! I would dearly like to login to the front end of joomla to make comments on some of the fantastic work being done ! Please help me.
