Building on the huge success of Joomla!Day (West) USA, we're happy to announce Joomla!Day (Central) USA and Mexico is scheduled for July 21st, 2007, in Austin, Texas.  This event aims to create a stronger Joomla! community through networking for both technical and non-technical people.  This special Joomla!Day will include topics designed to satisfy new users through to hard core developers.

Keynote speakers are Johan Janssens, a Project Manager for Joomla! and Christopher Justice, board member of Open Source Matters, Inc.  With the imminent release of Joomla! 1.5 the speakers will naturally be exploring topics about features, capabilities and the future of the project.  In-depth discussions about how to build Joomla! templates and extensions are always popular.  A special guest — who is an industry expert — will be announced at the opening of the event.

If you’ve never been to a Joomla! Day, you’re in for a treat. These events are full of passionate people with real energy. The Joomla! community is overflowing with generous and brilliant individuals from all business and technical backgrounds. These events connect people with experts from around the world and allow you to expand your Joomla! knowledge. Joomla!Day isn’t only about Joomla!, it’s about the connecting people!

For some Texan hospitality, jam-packed sessions, amazing speakers, great topics and great Texas cooking, you need to be there.  The number of participants is limited so if you are interested please register as soon as possible.

I'm looking forward to it.  :)

I used to live in Austin for 6 years, so here are a few suggested restaurants and activities for those staying longer than the one day event:

There is a lot more to do in Austin, but these are some of the highlights. I look forward to seeing you all there!

I can't believe I missed this event.  I'm crying on the inside, especially when it was in my own backyard.
This is a sad day for (my) humanity.  I'd really like to network with more Joomla developers here in Austin so please think about bringing more events to central Texas.

(still crying on the inside)

And from Chris I got a note about pictures:
95 attendees from 12 US states, 3 countries and rave reviews!

Special thanks to Kelly Shores, Kyle Ledbetter, Gary Gisclair, Cynthia Baker, Andy Miller, Louis Landry and Rob Schley. We couldn’t have done it without you.
