DatsoGallery - Fatal error: Call to undefined function dgCategories()

if you install DatsoGallery v1.3.8 component and you get this error
Fatal error: Call to undefined function dgCategories() in line 4**
check the phpinfo(); to see if "short_open_tag= off"
you need to change it to "short_open_tag= on" in the php.ini
this error should go away now,
