We are currrently looking into the reason why the server is responding slowly or not at all.  At this point, we are suspecting a DoS attack.

We will be rebooting the server in about 10 minutes in order to apply some kernel tweaks to help provide some extra protection. Everything seems to have been stable for the last hour or so though.

This upgrade has been completed. We will continue to monitor the loads and the inbound traffic patterns though.

The server will be going down again for a few minutes in order to double the RAM to 2048MB (2GB)

The server is now back online with 2GB of RAM. The total outage was less than 5 minutes. We will see how things hold now. Although we have had to invest extra resources in the Joomla sever, we want to see everything running as smoothly as possible for everyone.

We believe the problem is partly due to attacks we have been seeing, but also a general increase in traffic to the main Joomla website. Joomla is certainly becoming a fairly high traffic site.
