Search : you can do better !

Hi !

Here are several thoughts about the directory :

- search function is , from my point of view, really bad, I don't know how it works, but often, even if you use specific keywords, you obtain a lot of results which have nothing to do in the results. ie, try "Zoom gallery" as keywords, you have about 115 answers and among it extensions like event calendar. Moreover, it seems that the search can't use two or more keywords to filter results, that's sad !

So, how extensions are included in teh directory, do developpers have the ability to define their own keywords ?

-Something else, I have in my favorites, more than 100 extensions, it would be cool if we could create our own classification to avoid the mess :D

You can use the Advanced search option, you will get more specific result.

Yes, you're right, I can use this, this way, the search can be precised, but unfortunately, I consider that the part of the search based on words is faulty. I mean, it can be better.

However, I would be glad to know how this engine works "technically" ...

Hi Epsylon,

Search can be improved and this is being looked into.

Until then you could try your last search using underscore like this JW_Media_Manager
That will return only 1 result  ;)

Would it be possible to extend the advanced search a little further to select from one or more categories.  For example, I would like to find all 1.5 compatible forms, but entering 'form' in the keyword area returns a large number of items that are really unrelated to what I'm looking for.  I know that the search capabilities are being looked at, but this could be a nice quick solution for paring down the total number of results.

If implemented, I would expect that one could choose from more than one category.

Thanks!
