Wow, quite an accomplishment! I'll be interested to see how existing 1.0.x extensions work with 1.5. BTW, there are a few typos in the announcement...

Congrats to the dev team, this is quite a leap for the project helping us get away from our $ambo roots and onto bigger and brighter things. Thanks again for your hard work.

Look, it's a CMS!

great work -- lots of work!
This is such an awesome community!

I admit I'm surprised by the chosen codename, as I expected another fancy Egyptian deity as a follow-up of little Khepri, which as been an excellent bridge from the 1.0 Sun theme nonetheless. Something like Heka or Heget maybe.

Have fun,
CirTap

bila shaka ni katika moyo ule ule wa kuendeleza mambo mapya

(it´s the only thing I´ve found googling: without doubt it was in that spirit of developing new things)

Re: Discuss: Austin ... the Joomla! has Landed < the good, bad and the ugly>

Maybe I'm too critical

The good: The MVC architecture is excellent! Congrats on the dev team!
The bad: various webdsigners won't like that their _tpl_myptemplate is not loaded
The ugly: (personally) I've to write off 10-15% of my users because username + duplicate e-mail adress is not allowed anymore (legacy)

Nevertheless, I think it's a great product, but I need to hack it

Woohoo!!! :D

I'm sooooo happy!! I've been developing a couple of sites using the nightly builds, hoping for an RC release before I was ready to go live... and here it is, a few weeks before I need it!  :D

Great work folks!!

Great work!
After all GPL discussions we needed some positive news  ;)

And don't forget to upgrade your 1.0.12 sites to 1.0.13 :)

It is very nice CMS, very very nice.

Soon I will put it up, my site. Have been waiting for this day for a long long time. And now.... THANKS!!!! WIiiiiiiiiii!!!

One question.

Will there be upgrades from now on?? So RC1 > RC2 will be an option? And then from RC2 > Stable as well ?

Thank you again,

/jon

JoomlaDay Austin was fabulous ... Florida next, okay? Surely there are enough Joomlaphiles in the Sunshine State to make it worthwhile. But I would do it all over again, even if I did have to travel! You guys are really impressive ... the core team, the devoted acolytes, all y'all (yeah, a few hours in Tejas and I got my "y'all" back!)!

All hail the Core Team!  Much thanks!

i cant wait to install it and try it out

>> We've codenamed Joomla! 1.5 RC1 "Mapya" which is Swahili for "new"

Actually "mapya" is plural for "mpya". So i guess the word you are looking for is mpya.

Also: kipya, vipya, jipya, lipya etc

This of course coming from a Joomla user residing in a Swahili speaking country

If anybody that went wants to drop me a hello i sure would like to hear from you - i accidentally left all my business cards that i had collected behind... not to mention my CC and DL!!!  :-[

Thankfully though some fellow attendees found them and returned them back to me before i left to drive back to San Antonio - Thanks guys you prevented putting a dampner on what was an awesome day!  :D
