Demo Component: Open for Discussion

Hi Guys,

I wrote this demo component a little while ago. The component is called 'messagboard' and offers the user to leave a message which gets stored in the table 'jos_messageboard'.

The intention is

a) to show a working example of a small component so that other 'Joombies' have a starting point to develop their own
b) to start a discussion how to make it better - I would be really great full for any comments showing me where I did go wrong!

If you want to read up on how I developed this component please feel free to visit http://www.uwe-duesing.com/index.php/joomla-blog#component.

So, feel free to have a look, the component can be installed using the joomla! installer in the back end. I tested it and it installs properly and de-installs properly, too. However, please be sure not use this component anywhere else but in your testing environment.

I think it sounds like a good start for a Joomla-based ticket system. What do you think? :)

It's pretty late in my time-zone but I will take a look at it tomorrow.

Hope it will make my understanding of MVC system better.

Thanks for your work. :)

Hey great stuff.  I am pretty new to Joomla but already have a need for a custom component :) May I suggest to add this

tutorials to the list.  Not saying that it is better or anything...it's just nice to have a few helping hands out there  :D
I am going to go through your tutorial in more detail as I am building my component.  I'll let you know what I come up with.
Thanks again.

Hi,

Feel free to add a link pointing to my site...

I have not done any work on that tutorial for a long time now. I am currently working on a new project which I will document in a more structured way.

Cheers,

Uwe
