I'm testing joomla 1.5 for making it faster than ever, that is I need I site with a minimum load of data. Now I see that when you load the first page of your joomla you load also some javascript files:
From your template, 1) 2)
From the framework,
3) 4)
I have deleted in my template the code 1) and 2) as I don't see a real need for my site. (Please if any, post your tips about those points)
I need to avoid any mootools loaded from my site as I use a simple template, moreover the mootools file is almost 76Kb and I don't know why I need that feature in my site...
Here is my question, how to disable mootools as I need a light and fast site to load?

ok, deleted all unuseful CSS from the template as already written (I use the rurk template for a template on diet),
and about java I've done this: delleted all js folder for testing, NO PROBLEM and NO STRANGE BEHAVIOUR in the front-end. About article lists the java for re-ordering the column by hits / articles / authors are ok.
So those mootools - what are for?

obviously the problem is that the back-end has a need of mootools...
but now the question is:
if I don't need a mootools script for the front-end, how can I avoid to use & load those java script?
Please remember that the full site is loaded by 14Kb of data at the home page and I don't like to add 76Kb for java funnies... the site has to be viewed in techno-gap parts of the world

Also some parts of the site frontend use it. There was a thread about avoiding mootools to load. But I can't find it now. My advice would be taking a look at Joomla 1.5 Dev forum. I guess it was there.

thanx, I'm trying but finding nothing... I'll reply there for understanding better... I hope to find out here a solution anyway
thank you very much, very interesting but now I'm aware my idea isn't a good one... "Mootools is considered to be the official JavaScript framework of Joomla! 1.5" and for Meta tag generator pages or for 3PD that may depend on this and so on, well you have to let all as it is.
I could download a "slim" file by mootools avoiding to have modules not interesing for my site, but I'm not able to twaek / manage javascript...
I have 2 ways, using that or simply removing that, the problem is that I can lost sundry joomla benefits...
I have no real solution, I have to use joomla as it is...
