I don't know if anyone has told you yet but when you view the demo of Joomla! at: http://demo.joomla.org the home page is messed up in both Firefox and IE.

JFYI. :)

Looks fine to me. What do you mean by messed up.

The demo site is reset every hour (iirc) so perhaps it was someone seeing what joomla can do

It needs to be, someone has been going through and changing all the links to some advertising popup thing...
In case it is against that firms TOS, here is the details, if anyone wishes to chase it up.

Code: Select all

clk.tradedoubler.com/click?p=36743&a=1093275&g=16153120

Is there any way of locking the link to administrator to an unchangeable item, as that was also one that got altered.?

Question: Is the script used for refreshing the install available to the public, and if so, would it be posible/secure to run on a shared server? I wouldn't mind setting up a demo site for potential clients so they can get a feel for the functionality. Can we make it happen? :)

It's just a script that drops the db and then restores it.

Feel free to point your clients to the demo at demo.joomla.org

Katya,

What versions of the above browsers was your friend using?

I'm using the latest version of Firefox and the demo site looks just fine?

The database is refreshed every hour, so should be clean after an hour again.

Hi,

Can you publish the script Brad?  :P

Two additional questions:
- How can I make the login fields automatically filled up using predefined credentials on admin login page?
- How can I prevent users from browsing (and messing up!) my root directories using components such as JoomlaXplorer?

Thanks  ;)

I am also looking for a way to offer a demo site for my users. It will showcase certain components of my choosing and I really want to make sure they can use the components while keeping my site and server secure.

This would be a big benefit to the community.
