I don;t know if you're aware of it, but there's a new J! 1.5 book on the market which doesn;t appear to be in the Joomla shop:

Mastering Joomla! 1.5 Extension and Framework Development

A lot of books do not appear in this shop -- for example in the German section (last entry 2005!):
