As one of the bug squashing event coordinators, I'm extremely happy to see this work-to-success connection here. This is what we as developers and contributors in the community love to see. There's a correlation between hard work done by the community in a concerted effort and the ability to continue to push out excellent project releases.
I'm excited to see the fruits of our labour! Nice work everyone.
Best,
Ryan

I want to give a big thankyou to everyone that participated in the bug squash event recently. It's given the project a huge kick along, not to mention it was a ton of fun for a lot of people.

Great work all. This release is screaming fast. You must have tweaked the cache.
As far as any bugs. This new release killed the JA Purity menu system. Something about a bad php call.

For people curious about memory usage of RC4 compared to RC3, I did a little post about that on our blog @ Joomlatools:

After a long time in the CMS wilderness, 1.5 has brought me back to developing my websites with Joomla.
I've been dabbling with Drupal development and will continue to use both Drupal and Joomla. I love what is being done with both projects.
I have installed and am currently testing RC4. Brilliant!
Sign me up for Doco Boot Camp.
Regards
