Live Bookmarks

I noticed that Live Bookmarks aren't turned on for [ur=http://www.Joomla.org]Joomla.org[/url], and I'm assuming there is a technical reason for this.  Anyone know what it is?

By the way - Merry Christ-mas!  :)

I'm curious about this as well (I found your thread by searching the forums).  Did you ever get a response?

Does anyone know why live bookmarks are not used on the Joomla frontpage?

No, I never received a response.  It's not a big deal for me, but a one-line addition to the HTML header could draw more traffic to the site.

Thank you for the reply brad, but that does not address our question.

You just pointed out an answer for why the feeds were not working recently.  The question here is why does Joomla not employ the live bookmarks option in which an RSS feed icon would appear in the address bar of a browser focused on Joomla.org?  I am asking why this option is not activated for Joomla.org.

You can add a new live feed bookmark manually for the time being. I have no idea why it is not activated, or why/if we should activate it.

Joomla does not come with the live bookmark feature out of the box, so I guess it is up to the template designer to code that in or not. We run a pretty stock standard install of Joomla on our main site, with a custom template of course. :)

Hi brad, I am not trying to be difficult, but I think you mean to say that "Joomla does not come with Live Bookmarks activated by default."

Live Bookmarks are part of the syndication component and are packaged with the standard Joomla distribution.  Any Joomla user can turn them on and have them display without any special template coding.

The point of this thread was just to ask why these are not used on Joomla.org.  If there is some technical reason, then that's what we would like to know.  That being said, it's not a big deal, just a basic curiosity

There is no technical reason, it just is not enabled.

I will however, discuss this with rhuk when I get a chance.
