make my own login form

Hello,
I have been using Joomla for a while. Although I have just begun coding my first component, and I am slowly expanding on my basic PHP skills. I am working in Joomla 1.5 and I am trying to add a login box to my component.
I tired to copy the code from the login module, although I was unsuccessful (I fixed the path to helper.php but still received other errors).
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
