hi there,

may i keep my nick here or not? i have just used the same nick in one other big german board and was kicked!

I think we would prefer it if you did.

Not that you would but some poor newbie might actualy think that you are Joomla! And we wouldnt want that to happen

How about simply because you were asked nicely by a core dev and a board admin - and the fact that it would be nice in order to avoid potential confusion, especially among newbies?

I'm happy for you that you are pleased you can use that nick on other forums, but the fact that you are using the nick on other forums doesn't seem very relevant to me... those forums aren't this one. Those forums aren't the "official" Joomla! forums, this one is. It seems appropriate that the board admins would prefer that no one use joomla as a nick here, and it would be nice if you were willing to respect that rather than get into a pissing match over it.

I will join my other Core Team members and ask that you please change your forum nick.

This name has the potential of causing problems as your posts may be taken as official statements by the Joomla team.

Note we are asking for your assistance on this matter and we dont want to resort to banning anybody.  So I would ask you to carefully reconsider your position and think beyond yourself and consider the greater good of the community.
It was partly our fault for not locking the use of this forum nick and so we are kindly asking your assistance by getting you to suggest an alternative forum nick.  This nick will not be used by anyone else, simply locked from use.

Ok.. further on this matter.. I have good reasons to believe that you already hold an account on these forums.. under a different username....

I am going to give you 24 hrs to respond here, or via PM to myself. After that point the newer of your two account (joomla) will be deleted.
