I really don't want to sound like I'm complaining...I love Joomla and actively come online to see the latest news. But tonight for example...

...3 very lengthy posts from one chap who is a developer of 3 components (com_akobookPlus, com_akocommentPlus, com_securityimages) that are repetitive, lengthy and of little relevance to those not using the components (like me)...I'm sorry the guy is swamped with emails, but is that the place to display that news and tell his users how to contact him (or not)?

...then after that, 2 posts from the jos_community people, who I think can be considered the most active posters of news related to a component despite the fact their forum totals 7 posts in total.

I just feel it's making it hard to keep up with active component news when some people are taking advantage of the ability to post to that page...posting either news that is of little relevance to the wider Joomla community or repeated posting to either self-promote or give the impression of an incredibly active component (apologies to the jos_community peope if I have misinterpretted your news-postings--to-activity ratio).

This is probably the most critical post I've put in a forum but I'm just disappointed the main page of the forge area is losing importance because of the content that is going on there. Not sure what the solution is though?

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the post. Your remarks are absolutely valid. The problem is that we don't have control over the submitted news. We can't approve or edit the news posted by the different projects. We are currenty working on a solution to fetch the news items from the forge and push them out as Joomla content items. This will allow people to use newsfeedsreaders to access the news and we will be able to make changes to them.

News and project only in Russian, German etc. is not wery nice either.. 

It should normaly all be in english, but as I said currently we don't have the tools to inforce this.

Maybe the forge need a moderator team, who can try to keep some control over there, and also notify these who's doing mistakes so they can avoid it in the future?

I think, perhaps, that the news to forge home should just be the headline, with a link to the project page for the rest.
That way, more items can be displayed, preventing someones major announcement from being shoved off the display rota within minutes of posting.
Just a thought...

I'd have to agree with the idea if headlines.....saves missing a news item because you didn't look at the page for 30 minutes! Seriously...the news does get pushed off quickly when someone posts a huge announcement.

Headlines would not only give a better run down of more news but also give a better indication to first time visitors just how active that area is.

Well I'm loathe to put something so specific here, but after watching the forge page for a week I've realised that the 'joscomunity' developer simply seems to post for the sake of always being listed in tthe news. One posting there...it eventually moves off the page....new post appears. That post finally disappears today as more news comes on board...and guess what...a new posting.

At a minimum I feel that the page should be reduced to headlines so that...
* we see more than just the 5 most recent events
* the 'joscommunity' chap doesn't feel he needs to post so often simply to be visible (give others a chance)
* the page doesn't get taken over by long posts announcing news, some of it in other languages
