Only thing I would like to see added to it is some sort of stability version numbers for which version of Joomla it was developed and tested for...

There are a lot of changes coming soon and it is likely a lot of components and bots will break under the changes.
It would be nice to know that a particular project was developed under Joomla X.XX or will work with version numbers up to Joomla x.xx

I don't know how much control the developers have over the content on this new site so it might not be possible for them to maintain it themselves but it would be a great help to those wanting to use these projects if lets say community builder listed doesn't break under 1.08 but is good for all version up to 1.07

But you guys know all that already...you are reading my mind so you knew this an hour ago! LOL

We've tried to address this with general compatibility with 1.0.x and 1.1.x. We can discuss how this could be more sophisticated. Do you have any examples?

Well lets use DBQuery

I can't get it to work on 1.08...
I don't know when the project started having problems with Joomla but it must have been something to do with an upgrade to admin menus since the error I get has something to do with that...
If I knew what version it stopped working at I would know to skip it until a leter update came out that said it supported 1.08

But maybe there is an easier way...
Could you add a dropdown for reviewers to select which version of J! they are using?
At least then if someone running 1.08 gives it a great review at least the rest of us would know it works under that version...

I know this site is sort of a lite user friendly version of what is on the developer site...and bug reports are usually the best way to track these things...but it would save users a lot of headaches if they knew what versions a project would run on...

It's going to be especially important once 1.1 comes out because I suspect a lot of old components will not be useable on the new system.
And if you can start labeling what projects you already have it will be easier later on to distinguish and filter them out...

Ideally it would be something the developer lept up to date since it would be impossible for J! to test and determine what each project runs on...

But as I suggested maybe the users can do it when they review...

I think the Reviews section for each Extension is appropriate for this. We can't officially test each extension for compatibility. Its up to the users to provide feedback in the appropriate ways and for the developers to maintain their code.

In the event that a component is not compatible with the latest stable release of Joomla!, I'd recommend following this process:

1.) Search related forum threads here and at the project's home for verification
2.) Post to related forums and/or contact the developer to verify
3.) If no response, post review with your user experience and contact history to Extensions Directory
