New features in Extensions Directory

It has been exactly one week since we launched the Extensions Directory and the response has been nothing short of fantastic! Thanks to the community (you!) for making this possible.

We have added a few improvements to the site over the last few days and would like to share this with you:

  • Clicking Recommend, Rate an Write Review now go directly to the form. This make sure the users are aware of the form when the description is too long.
  • License is a required field now.
  • The ordering in Top Rated module and Top Rated page is same now. Previously, it looks random due to a number of extensions having the same maximum rating of 5.0.
  • The algorithm to determine a "Hot" extension has been improved. Any extensions with an average click of 85 and above will be "Hot".
  • Search look for *any* words if more than one word is entered.
  • Number of reviews are now shown in the summary view

Cheers,

Thanks.

You're right. The Demo link is optional and only shown when the extension owner specify an URL for it.

optional?
wouldn't it be nice if they were set to required or if it is optional, at least the lister should get some screenshot
of their listed components. Text description alone, i think would not suffice.

C'mon, you get a component for free, and the dev must also provide documentatio, demo an screenshots if he wants to list it? Let's not make it too hard on the coders to GIVE us their FREE stuff!
Note I'm not including commercial ones in this reply :D

Can we have an option for all users to "Add Demo" when such is not applicable

I think that the users should contact the developer if there is not a demo link listed. Perhaps the developer doesn't want this user's demo included with their listing. I do encourage all developers to include a link to a working on their listing. It helps the user a LOT more than anything they could possibly say in the description.
