So glad I found you!

I am attempting to get our church website up and running but am having a terrible time with the template. How did you get rid of all the junk and put your own stuff in? Can't even figure out the first steps to do this. I have help from my son who knows HTML really well, but he thinks its above him because of the modules. Any advice you have would be much appreciated.

Dear friend:
You first have to add the "modules" you want showing through the admin backend. Then you change the graphics and add what you need. I am learning also ... so that might not be a suffice answer.

What I can do is send you to a place where you can get step by step instructions below.
http://help.joomla.org/content/category/16/100/153/ is general help with templates.
http://help.joomla.org/content/category/16/153/153/ is the tutorial page on modules.
Hope this helps ... have a great day ... and good luck on your church site.

I think it is more of a Joomla adminisration that templates. There are two useful docs that may help you:

Pastor Rob,
Thank you for the links! I have much to get done in a short period! This morning (unknown to me) the website was listed in our church bulletin that it would be ready for use tomorrow (Mon April 17)! Man oh man, talk about pressure!
Thank you again for your help!

Hello Pastor_rob,
Your website needs to insert a nice picture either on the top header or in the introductory section page. It has some blank space. Try to use those space for eyes caching.

Hey Pastor_rob,
Good to see churches useing this too! I'm also in charge of my church website.
Quick question, did you design the template or buy it?
