Error while signing up - never got an email

I tried to signup with my normal username that I go by on most forums I participate. Signup was no problem. I never received an confirmation emai. I waited for the confirmation email and since I didn't receive one I tried resending it to the same email address.
nilsc-- ultimatekayakfishing-dot-com Still no confirmation email but there was an error message.

I tried again after some time (I think a day) and I used the form to change it to my alternate free email and still, error message and no email. I gave up and used yet another email from my ISP this time and I had to make up a new username - I hope I'll remember who I am now :D

So is there anything I can do to get my regular user name confirmed and activated?

It's NilsC and the last email I tried to use was yakfisher_ri--yahoo-dot-com (I hope this post is not in the wrong area)

Niles - you should be able to correct your email address by clicking the Profile button at the top of the page. Once you are on the profile page, look for the next link to update email.

Also, I am always happy to spot people while they only have a few posts in case they are new to Joomla! so that I can offer good documentation to help them get started!  :)

If you are indeed brand new to Joomla!, I *highly* recommend you read through and study the material in the "Absolute Beginner's Guide to Joomla!" < http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,47524.0.html > before going any further.

This is a collection of *excellent* tutorials people have found jump start learning.

Often, people do not have realistic expectations of the effort required to learn Joomla!. They start building a website as soon as the product is installed and often wind up frustrated because they are unable to do even the simpliest of tasks.

Joomla! is indeed easy to use -- but only AFTER you have learned how! :P

When we are able to catch people right away and steer them towards the documentation *and* they invest time in learning, they are much more satisfied with their journey and far more productive. They wind up with more friends, faster cars and bigger houses, too.

If you have questions, ??? please continue to post them to the forum. People are very helpful. (Make sure you search, first! People are busy answering thousands of questions each day.) And, if you get stuck and find people unresponsive, please feel free to PM me. I will be glad to help or find someone who can help.

If you do decide to take this approach to learning, I ask that you kindly return to this post in two weeks to a month and  update us on your experience. That kind of feedback is invaluable to us as we welcome others to the community.

Good luck!
Amy  :)

AmyStephen,

thank you for your reply. I don't know id you did it or someone else but I finally got my Activation for my username. I think the Ultimatekayakfishing name will be retired and I will continue my posts with the username I know and love :D

Thank you for the link, I read it before installing Joomla (no more Mambo for me) and I will post my question under this username.

Mod note: thread moved to correct forum.

It is against the Rules for you to have more than one account here on the forums, please contact me so one of them can be removed.

Thanks.

Brad -

My apologies; I should have helped UltimateKayakFishing (really NilsC) get to you.

Just so that you understand, the purpose of Nil's original note was to say they were unable to use the first ID (NilsC) because the email did not come. So, the only way they could get the message to us was to create another account  to use in order to post the problem.

In this thread, Nil's asks in Reply #2 that the temporary account UltimateKayakFishing be removed now.

Again, that was entirely my fault. Next time, I will immediately contact you with this type of problem. I believe Nils was attempting to do what you indicated was needed. I dropped the ball.
