This is a question for the forum moderators...
What is the purpose of the "no URL's in the subject" rule? It seems like you are spending most of your time editing out the URL's from the subjects, and that really doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
Just curious.

Splitting this thread at this point so it stays on topic. Original thread is here:

URL's in thread titles: An oft used subtle method of advertising.
You'd be surprised at the lenght that the .01% of our users go to in an effort to break the rules and promote/advertise their site.

That still doesn't quite answer my question. I mean, they get to show their URL's in the message, so why not in the subject? What's the difference?
Plus, isn't that the whole point of the site showcase - to promote your site?
I don't mean any disrespect. I just don't understand.

We don't allow promotion of ones website, except a single thread in site showcase that does not include your site url in the title.

Brian - rules are listed under the button on the top of the page. < Don't worry - I had to ask where they were, too! TRUTHFULLY! >
But, here are the rules on signatures. I think you are wrong. If you are not, would you be so kind as to point out the rule?
MUCH appreciated, Brian!
Amy

What am I wrong about Amy?
A signature of
http://www.joomlahostingforyou.com - dedicated joomla hosting just for you
Is allowed.
That looks like an advert to me

But see, Brian. I don't think that having that in your signature is against the rules. Or, am I missing something? That's why I reprinted the rules. Can you find a line there that says we cannot do that? Seriously -- help me understand!

Amy he wasn't saying it was against the rules, in fact he has said directly that it was allowed.

OK. Now I am really confused. Since you are explaining this for Brian, maybe you could also explain his point to Brad.

arrgh.. ok seeing as this has gone off-topic, it's time to close it.
Orginal post was about URL's in thread titles. I think that question has been answered.
