Multiple Use of Joomla in different sites

Hi there, I have just downloaded Joomla, and am wondering if I can use the same content management system for multiple sites? Or do I need to set up a new CMS system per site? Is there a way of generating individual passwords/ usernames so that different clients can log into their own set up and change their sites themselves? Thanks Lyn
