i work for arts of life, art studio for the developmentally disabled.
a site was created for us.
I'm attempting to update it.
How do I add the menu with the artists names to each page that shows individual artist info?
all the individual artist pages just have the "get involved" link.

Welcome to Joomla.  The menu on the left looks like a very standard Joomla menu.

I understand that you want the menu to appear whenever someone clicks on an artist's name, is that right?  You don't want the menu to disappear. Is this right?

I think this is what you need to do.  Login into the admin section.

First, find the name of the menu if you don't know already.  Go to "Menus".  There should be a few menus listed.  You can just click through them and find the one that contains all of the links to artists.

From the menu on the top, select "Modules".  This will be a list of all modules used on the site.  On the right side there should be a drop-down that contains a list of module types.  You probably want to filter on the "mod_menu". (It could be something else, but I don't think so).  Filtering should shorten the list and there should be only a few rows listed.  One of these is the module that you need to edit.

If you click on the name of a module, you should see someplace on the page the menu which the module works with.  This would be easy to test - if you unpublish the module, then the menu will go away.

Once you find the right module, you need to determine on what pages the module will appear.  On the right side of the page should be a list of website links.  You can select all the links that should use the menu.  When you are done, save the changes.

Finished.  I hope that didn't seem overly complex.
