I've created a simple, yet powerful, hack for virtuemart which turns it into a donation system.  Now non-profits can setup all kinds of fund, projects, and products and allow the customer to enter the donation amount.  Plus there are many other options using this Custom Attributes Extended Hack.

This sounds like exactly what I am looking for right now! VirtueMart is still down. Is the link you posted where we find the hack you mentioned? Is it a complete extension itself, or do we install the regular VirtueMart extension and change some code somewhere?

You install virtuemart and then follow the directions on the hack to edit certain files.  It will be clearer once their since comes back online.

To my knowledge virtuemart doesn't integrate with membership management.  And so I don't think this hack would help.
