Hi guys, I am relatively new to Joomla and I have encountered a problem while trying to install a component (Joomlaboard & ExtCalender) I read the user guides on how to go about installing them but to no avil.
I always get this error while installing ExtCalender:
Failed to create directory "C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\joomla\administrator\components\com_extcalendar\"
JoomlaBoard:
ERROR: Could not find an XML setup file in the package.
and
Installation file not found:
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\joomla\media\install_44ac60507175c\
Any idea? Help would be much appreciated.

administrator/components/ Writeable
components/ Writeable
images/stories/ Writeable
Yes I have write access. When i tried installing the com.zip file within the joomlaboard.zip, i recieved this error message that says that it is unable to create the com_joomla folder, BUT the thing is when i manually go into the directory. THERE IS INDEED A COM_JOOMLA. Its absurd!

Stupid question -> Do you have sufficient disk space to perform the install? You may find that although you have plenty of quota, the actual machine might have run out of room for it.

Could it be a path problem? I just started using Joomla and when I tried to install modules and components, I realized that I had to change the directory on the install from box to %systemroot%/joomla/modules/modulename/ . What would come up normally would look like %systemroot%/joomla/administrator/modules/mod_installer/modulename/ . Does this make any sense? Just check your install from path to make sure it is correct. Also I had to delete a failed install module from the modules folder before it would reinstall correctly. Incidently, I have not been able to install via upload, I have had to ftp up to my host and then install. Hope this helps

Okay lets say if I would to put the ExtCalendar file into wwwroot folder, so the address would look like this:
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\joomla\components\ExtCalender
This is the same address that I would insert under the Installer in the admin mode right?

Don't forget the trailing '/', or in your case '\'. I am on a hosted server so my folder location was a bit longer, but yes I think that it is looking for the exact location of the folder. I tried at some point to cut and paste info into the install box and found out that it didn't always work, so I ended up deleting all the stuff after the /joomla/ and adding the proper location and file names.
Just a thought as I am no expert by any means.
Hope this helps you out
