Hi, I notice that Performs is not listed as a form extension. How come? Does it have security probs? I liked this form component because it was so simple...

Hi floatingworld,
Earlier today we finally unpublished the extensions that have not been claimed by the original developer.
We have tried to contact them on several occasions, to invite them to claim AND maintain the listed extensions themselves.
Now it was time to move forward, and in everyones interest only extensions maintained by the developers is now listed

Thanks for the response!
I'm dismayed that the developers are letting this one go... To my knowledge it is the only form component that works with joomfish without hacks!!

Interesting decision ot2sen...One I might not have made...
But with the eventual release of 1.5 and the most likely need to upgrade extentions to work with it I can't really fault the decision at all...

Is there a list available of the discontinued extensions, it might be usefull to publish it as other developers might take up the development of some of them.
Cheers

Thanks for that... looking through the list I noticed a few I believe are still in development. But theres also a number of extensions that are worthy of somebody picking up.
Might even find time for a couple myself
Cheers

Shayne,

I updated kl_rssfeed (now 1.0.9+ compatible) for a user and posted it here:

Some of those projects are actually complete and would not need any further development unless some drastic changes were made to the way coms and Modules are installed...
IE:
MOSpjirc Component (Internet Relay Chat, IRC) - All this really does is display a Java App on the frontend and allow you to add server that it adds into the DB...Since it uses it's own DB entry it should not be affected by any changes to the Joomla Schema in the future.
Can't imagine and security holes that might need pathcing on this since it's all Java.

There's some massively popular extensions in that list (Zoom gallery etc...). Am I to understand that they will not be represented on the joomla.org site anymore?

I'm still getting downloads off MamboXChange even though it's been nearly a year since the PTB "expired" my access. My recommendation is to maintain the complete and beta stage projects as people may still utilise them. Alphas and those without code should be removed.

Thanks for compiling this list. Also, I love the spiffy, new labels showcasing your area of Joomla support.

Many congrats to ot2sen for finishing this long project. The original extensions directory was created from a master list that kenmcd and guilliam later maintained. We have given the developers plenty of time and notice to claim the extension. The reasons for removing them from the directory include:
- The developer of any listed extension leads the charge to support their release. If no developer claims the extension, the directory is ineffective in helping the end user find support.
- As we near the release of 1.5, it is critical that developers know the difference in the code base from previous releases and update their extensions. The validity of an extension's listing is the responsibility of the developer and we have provided compatibility options for 1.0.x and 1.5.x versions.
- A drive like this for accountability further validates the data in the directory. This is ultimately a win for the end user. Hopefully the removal of these extensions from the directory will encourage developers to resubmit their development.

Hopefully perForms will have an update soon as there are known vulnerabilities.
The kl_ scripts are still under active development, however the developer (konlong - John Long) did not provide the listing for the extensions site and the link goes to a very old forum post on mamboserver. I suggest his scripts are removed from the list completely because it is wrong to give an impression that a dev is not actively developing his script when he was unaware it was listed here.
I will talk to John about him getting his latest up on the forge.

I would be more than happy if he takes over my hack!

I guess it will be published again as soon as the developer claims it again.

Would it be reasonable/possible to provide a list of removed extensions in the same format as the active extensions list? The items could have the URL link replaced with a short explantion, such as "Abandoned" or "Insecure".
I'm hunting for news on extCalendar, which despite it's flaws is still the only calendar extension I've found that comes close to doing what I need. I'm about ready to start hacking a few changes but have heard there might be a new project to bring it back to live. Don't want to duplicate the effort, but without the listing, also don't know where that project might live.
