Need suggestions for a Church site.....

Hey all, I run a couple of Church sites and I am looking for suggestions on what to add to them to keep the users interested and coming back. I have thought about a forum, but we don't have enough people to moderate them as they need to be (things can get out of hand fast). Does anyone have any suggestions for other online "activities"?
Oh, and the sites are
http://elizabethtonchurchofchrist.org (this is the main Church site) and
http://highrockbiblecamp.org (this is the site for a local Bible camp sponsored by our Church).
Thanks,
Clayton

Marcia,
You have a very nice site.
Your prayer requests section, is that a Joomla component? If so, where can I get it?
Thanks,
Clayton

Hi Clayton,
It is a component that I added when we were still using Mambo 4.52, but we have not had any problems with it in Joomla. We are currently using Joomla 1.0.10.

One thing is to make sure the church puts the web address url on EVERY publication. Same with the commercial world, but the website should be the counterpart to all the bulletins and newsletters. Also, don't be affraid to give publisher permissions to secretaries and pastors that want to get involved. It would mean less work for you and probably more up-to-date information. They don't have to have back-end permissions, they can edit all on the front end side and submit news and events.
How about devotionals by pastors in the church? The devotional could go hand-in-hand with a discussion board.
My advice is to keep updating at least the front page every week with something new. If people come back to the site and see the same thing as when they were there last, they will feel like they have "seen the website" and don't need to come back ever.
Just some ideas. Let me know what you think.
