Discussion about: We need your Joomla! badges
Now the logo is finalized, we need you all to help us create some of those 80x15 web buttons that are oh-so popular right now. More information on web badges/buttons and samples can be found here:
http://www.zwahlendesign.ch/en/node/19
Obviously the strict rules of the Brand Guide cannot apply to an image of this size, so you have some flexbility to be creative. We'll select a sampling of our favorite buttons and make them available on the logo page for download.
Thanks,

I like Nic version with a little gloss and rounded edges (Where is the photoshop source file nic.)
I have attached the photoshop source file feel free to use it.

Re: Discussion about: We need your Joomla! badges
Here's my small contribution, pun intended
I've followed the button standards as much as possible, and I created a simple pixel font similar to the real thing, and it even has a tiny tiny TM in there
Just a quick shot at it, I'll have a look around and come up with some other designs soon.
Cheers,
Damian
I just made a 3d version of the buttons inspired by Nic's contribution:
And now a version of that with a slight shadow on the text:

Re: Discussion about: We need your Joomla! badges
Yeah, but this thread is for the creation of graphical buttons people can use in their pages that conform with standard button designs used on blogs etc. As the button must include the Joomla! logo, a pure css button would be slightly pointless. Distributing bits of html and css for use as buttons isn't going to work for many users either.
Also linking to a google cache of a site that has no images to explain what it's about is just going to confuse people
AND the tutorial there doesn't even work with IE 5.5.
Aside from that, nice link!

So many good buttons here already so I didn't even try the 80x15. I did put together several larger sized buttons though.

You guys continue to amaze me!!
Well done! How I love this community.
I also have to say, "BADGES!? We don't need no stinking Badges!" (it's a famous quote from the movie "Blazing Saddles") Sorry. It was bursting out of me.
Also, please don't use "Get Joomla" or "Got Joomla" on the official badges - "Get it now" is fine.
Thanks,
wr

Actually, the quote was originally from a movie called The Treasure of the Sierra Madre". Blazing saddles was just spoofing it, as it did to many western movies that came before it. Both were excellent films and each stands on its own merits...I also have to say, "BADGES!? We don't need no stinking Badges!" laugh (it's a famous quote from the movie "Blazing Saddles") Sorry. We dont' need no stinking 80x15 "badges" as we go blind trying to decipher them on LCD screens with a 1280x1024 resolution default! Think I'll stick to the good old 80x31.

I'm not 100% positive but I think the origins of that line actually came from an old Humphrey Bogart film directed by John Houston, "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre"

Just curious: Is this over now just because someone sent his version to that website? To be honest I'm not so happy with the ones displayed there.

Logo pure stolen from other company
Hi there,
This week my company had to some work for this company, when I saw the logo I was negativly excited.
The maker of the new joomla logo stole it from this logo he even took the font.
I don't think it's a good idea to proceede with this logo guys!!!

Re: Discussion about: We need your Joomla! badges
If you look closely at their logo you will see that it is comprised of two interlinked arrows.
The joomla! logo is made up of four interlinked people.
If you colour in a plus sign rotate it 45 degrees you will also get something that looks like - well a colored rotated plus sign

Re: Discussion about: We need your Joomla! badges
Ofcourse it's not the same!!
It is not to difficult to make 4 parts instead of 2.
The rules were the logo has to be unique and not a copy with slight changes.

Re: Logo pure stolen from other company
Actually, there are a few logos out there that look even closer to the Joomla! logo. Not sure if originality was big criteria, than say, symbolic representation. Not sure if it's a big deal, since the products do not compete. As a graphic designer, I can tell you it's not easy to come up with a distinct logo that looks good, is easy to remember AND has a good symbolic association with the principles of a particular product and/or service. Of course, this is in no way an excuse to rob other people's ideas, although we're not sure that was the case here.
Rafa
PS: I have to check this forum more often. I wasn't aware people had already thrown in their badges so we went ahead and put one together since we didn't find it in the logo area.
Our two cents (although the NY Latino Journal is still operating under Mambo 4.5.1a. Why is upgrading such a nightmare with these things??!!):
