Other open source/Free license tag
I have a problem with the Other open source/Free license tag being applied to zero cost proprietary software. Almost all of the software that has a paid and zero cost version the zero cost version is not FOSS but proprietary software that is zero cost and tagged as Other open source/Free license A t...

How to revive an abandoned project?
Hi,
I would like to revive the ANJEL project.
The name is taken but nothing is there.
I have the last two releases, and a beta that was never released. The code is GPL.
Any suggestions of what to do next?

Re: what is the sql statment to add a content item?
Thanks,
I was mostly concerned that I needed to add to the count field in jos_categories, or jos_sections.
I have three test sites to play with, but once I do the live update I don't want to find a small oops that requires reverse engineering the mistake and putting things the right way..

what is the sql statment to add a content item?
Feel free to move this question if it belongs someplace else, I couldn't find anyplace that looked completely correct. I have 4200 pages to add and I am pretty sure that I can extract all the data I need out of the shtml and html files to fill in all the fields. I do not want to add them by ha...

Re: Impossible to register to the Forge !
I received a nice reply from VA Software, :-) but it wasn't particularly helpful :-( Would be nice if there was a note someplace saying: "Forge is suffering problems, we are working on it." VA Software stated that the problems were fairly low level which doesn't sound fun. (well, maybe it does...

Re: Joomla! Forge Q&A
Eek, the signal to noise ration on this thread is pretty low, but this seems like the place to ask my question. Is there anyway I can add details to someone else's bug report? I ask because Joomla is not looking for more members (which I understand) But, there are times when I have details to add to...

Re: NPO CRM solutions?
From a CiviCRM perspective, we will put resources into the Joomla! project after Joomla! 1.1 and CiviCRM 1.3 (so later this year, early next year). if folks need stuff earlier, folks in the community need to step up and contribute. Discussion in the forums are great, but its no substitute for some ...

Re: NPO CRM solutions?
The benefit of having a "fundraiser" interface, hopefully sharing logins with the CMS. is that it allows a clean user interface that is devoted solely to the task at hand. Giving the fundraiser a full screen of workspace for the tasks that s/he is responsible for seems necessary. There just really a...

Re: Integrating Joomla with non-profit fundraising tools
Salesforce has an excellent program which entitles qualifying 501(C)(3)s to 10 enterprise edition seats. I think they are up to around 400 organizations. Although the language for all of their tools is business speak and difficult to translate into fundraising terminology, the tools themselves are ...

Re: What i would require for a non-profit site
I know that this is the Joomla board, but I would recommend looking at www.plone.org for well developed ACL. It is designed for large organizations and sites. It scales to multiple servers with very little effort. Joomla is great for website management, for content, that happens to be web accessable...

4) Back-end for CRM that can be part of or separate from the Joomla back-end OR the ability to (depending on the up coming release) allow access to the Joomla back-end and to the CRM and interface only. Not sure what you mean by this I am pretty sure that I do. While CiviCRM has integration t...

Re: NPO CRM solutions?
CiviCRM has that functionality and it is well used in our Drupal distribution. We do not have a front end component for Joomla!/Mambo as yet. We will probably put resources into this after our 1.3 release (CiviDonate) which incorporates donation processing into the core I suspect building a front e...

I have a NPO project that we have been asked to look at (we have a few NPO clients). They want a front end component so that visitors to the site can submit info ...

hey micheas: can u be more specific as to what you mean by a "block". CiviCRM has got quite a bit of functionality to do various things. Re: NPO CRM solutions?
I found CiviCRM to be a back office component that was a building block (A nice block but still just a block.) Are there any modules for CivicCRM, or any pointers of how to use this in any way other than from the back end? The training revenue would be nice, but a solid GUI will generate more money ...

Re: The term artifacts
The term "artifact" is a generic description for that which you may apply in many different ways to handle actionable items within SourceForge. Perhaps we shall just agree to disagree on this point. Col That is fine for the backend project administrator. But I looked at many other sourceforge...

Re: Project Categorization will be coming to J!Forge
We really need a way to see instantly from the main project page the category the file release is in - i.e No Files/Planning, Alpha, Beta, RC, Stable, Mature. Along with that, we need to make sure that project leaders fill that out properly (thus the need for a feedback method). Don't forget abando...

Re: The term artifacts
With this debate going on, I went over to sourceforge.net and started looking at sites hosted there. Most large projects like sugarCMS and galeon use bugzilla or gforge instead of sourceforge for tracking bugs. phpmyadmin does use sourceforge for tracking bugs, but you never ever see the word artifa...

Re: The term artifacts
Actually people report bugs, raise enhancement requests and do lots of other things with trackers. SourceForge supports an unlimited number of trackers within a project. Each tracker is typically used for a single purpose: raising bugs i.e. "A bug tracker", raising enhancements requests i.e. "An en...

Here is a link that describes how one group releases software with sourceforge.
http://docutils.sourceforge.net/docs/dev/release.html
It may help inspire someone to do this for our souceforge. Or at least gives a methodology for releasing software on sourceforge that seems to work.

If there is an HTML or plain text version of these documents it would also be very helpful, as I sometimes do development work on a remote machine and like to have my documentation in easy reach on the machine I am working on.

Addition to the welcome page
A link to a quick subversion how-to would be nice.
There is a thread that has a tortoise / svn how-to on it.
I will look to see if I have one for the command line. (the basic cvs commands work if you replace cvs with svn so modifying the mozilla cvs guilde should work.

Is it possible to globally change the artifact to bug and artifacts to bugs?
Non standard terminology makes the clunky interface that is SourceForge even worse.

I am posting this here because I cannot find a better place to post this request.
