Re: Ideas for Joomla! University Alumni System

Ohh now this is good stuff, Amy! I hope you don't mind if I copy (and tweak of course) this outline... When I start a Joomla conversion project, I always start with the old-skool site map. From there, I break down what is content, and what is a functional requirement. I find that this approach is ea...

I'm afraid I'm just guessing here (I don't have any experience with multi-lingual Joomla installs), but could this be related to your database's charset?

Hi All, www.ExpatPetFinder.com This is a free site mainly based in the UAE (although it may spread out of there) for pets and animals that are lost/found/need a new home.  It's a personal project and has been "launched" for about a week.  The reception has been tremendous and I'm really g...

Have you implemented a widget on your site? I can't get one to work for the life of me. I drop the code into the HTML editor, publish the item, and then nothing shows up. If I go back into the item the HTML editor deletes all of the code. Help! Thanks! Dan Hi, Dan ~ The trick is to turn off your WY...

Good luck (that IE box model is the most frustrating thing!) and let me know if you'd like an updated screen shot.

Oh, and that Project Fork is turning out to be pretty useful for tracking tasks and projects! Thanks for turning me on to it!

Have a great weekend,

Ahhhh the users do love to do write their text and format it 10 ways from Sunday in Word, don't they? Best of luck breaking down that barrier! ;0) Anyway, I totally understand the ownership thing (no pun intended). I work in high ed and if there's one place where people really take ownership of thei...

Re: USS Yorktown Association, Inc.

Congratulations on the new site! The Video Tour is really cool! Here's my two cents on potential improvements: - I would give that Glimpses of the Past random photo module a bit more prominence on the site. Maybe make it a little bigger or a new module position would help. - I'm a little confused by...

Re: Contacts Component

Most all email clients have a way to designate an email sender as "safe" or "not spam". Adding an email sender to this list is called whitelisting.

You mentioned that your recipients may have their emails blocked by Verizon. What does that mean? Verizon is their ISP?

Hi, Inelia ~ I think you've got a great-looking site here, but I did want to suggest that you check it out in IE7 (I know - BOOOOO!). Re: Contacts Component

Hi, Chad ~

You may need to suggest that users whitelist your email addresses so they can go through.

Also, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Verizon IS blocking your messages. See http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/27/us/27verizon.html

Good luck!

Hi there ~ I've converted several sites to Joomla from static, and the simplest answer for me was to copy/paste in my old content. Just to get you started, you might take a look at one of the many Joomla template sites (like http://www.themesbase.com/?category=Joomla )

Re: 2-day-old at Joomla

Hey there - Is this a template you created or one you downloaded? It looks like your header image is too wide to accomodate your menu width.
