Re: Getting members to register & use our church website??
*UPDATE* Well it has been a while since my last post on this thread but things are going better. I have taken some advice from this thread and put it into action. I now have 48 users signed up which is pretty good for the size of our church. For the last 3 weekends I have had a com...

Re: Getting members to register & use our church website??
Thanks for the advice. I have to keep remembering that I just started this site and I can't expect everyone to just use it like I would. If I need information I go to the web first, I don't think the majority of our congregation is like this. In addition people aren't used to addin...

Re: Getting members to register & use our church website??
The "members only content" is really more of "people who attend or are affiliated with our church" content of which the amount is very small. I separate this content mainly for what you mentioned, which is Privacy. I have volunteer schedules that I don't want to advertise to everyo...

Re: Getting members to register & use our church website??
This exactly the advice I was looking for! Thank you. I am going spend some time digesting the advice and see what I can do. I will probably have some more questions so I will post back with them. Thanks again, God Bless!

Getting members to register & use our church website??
This is a similar request for input as another post here but I am having trouble getting our church members to register and use the site. Right now, members can login to access content that is not available to guest visitors. This content is things such as schedules, prayer requests, and...

Re: Are there a lot of church's that use Joomla?
I wish I had a good solution to the problem of allowing access based on user. Right now I have additional content available to registered members. Those with higher level access have access to edit all content on the site and additional content available to them. They just need to ...

Re: One little problem in my way
OK I fixed it!! This is the way it happens most of the time. I fixed it but don't really know how I fixed it. I think it had something to do with the JCE editor not transferring correctly. I copied the whole editor directory over from a known working source. This did t...

Re: One little problem in my way
The weird thing is that it worked when I was building it on my computer with the WAMP server software. The template that I modified is jt_simplicity_blue. Thanks for your help thus far.

Re: One little problem in my way
The blank WYSIWYG window + weird string in title bar {$lang_table_title} indicate that some variables cannot be loaded. You already checked the most common problem ($mosConfig_live_site & URL with or without www. ?) What are the permissions of the TinyMCE directories (/mambots/editors/tinymce/)? Do...

Re: Are there a lot of church's that use Joomla?
I am using Joomla to create a website for the church I attend. I think Joomla has a lot to offer churches. I like the ability to have people in the different ministries add their own content. With me being the webmaster this frees up my time considerably. In addition there ar...

Re: One little problem in my way
Thank you for the reply. I access my site via m In the Config. file the $mosConfig_live_site has the www just as above. I recently changed this because the site wasn't working correctly and all the links seem to be showing up with my address twice and in the back-end all the button image...

One little problem in my way
I have been working for quite a while now on our church website. I started from knowing absolutely nothing about Joomla, or PHP and I now have a working site. This was a lot of work! I just moved the site from the local server on my computer to a hosted server. After some&nbs...

Re: Frustrated with the main column
I have already done this and it works well. The only problem I have is then it seems I loose the option to add multiple blocks of content into my front page. I don't have any plans to add more than one block of content now but may want to in the future. I suppose you could do this ...

Frustrated with the main column
Hi there all. I have been doing a lot of reading in this forum but have not posted until now. I have been too busy trying to figure things out. I have come a long way. I started by tearing down the default template piece by piece. This brought me along way in understand...
