how to change $mos_config_live site ?

Hi guys,
Sorry if this does not go in this thread, but this is coding so I suppose there is no problem.
I have a problem with a component that I purchased (clexus). I changed my URL and the serial won't work anymore, and it seems impossible to contact the guy who made it to get a new clexus ( I mean it is encoded with ioncube, so I really have to ask him for new files with the right serial/livesite). But I am stuck and I try all alternatives possible. One of them is: it seems it looks at $mosconfig_live_site to check that the name of the website is the right one.
So is this variable used too widely? or not? if not I may change its name to something like $mosconfig_live_site2 and keep the original one with the old name of my website so that the component is lured... Do you think it is attainable?
I run out of solutions. So if anybody has another solution to this delemma I would be very happy.

Unfortunately this is a difficult situation because I for one wouldn't want to provide information for you to break the terms of your license.  Unfortunately, in this situation, I think you are at the mercy of the component developer.  I wish you luck.

Well this is a component that is not sold anymore and will be released for free (but I can not wait 3 months), that is why since I did not and will not break the license I thought it is ok. Indeed I will still use the license of the component that I bought for only one site.
But I understand your position. Thanks for the reply anyway

Yeah...  my instinct is to trust you, but even if I trust that you are not intending to break the license, it still puts me in a potentially tough position legally, which I'd rather not have to deal with.  This is one of the problems with encrypted extensions - if something were to happen to the developer, you are messed, and, the developer can mess you around and insist that you pay again.

Yes well I think the developper is a nice person simply he left this aside and is not good in terms of communication... I guess I will have to go with pms enhanced till he releases the free version of clexus in a few months.

mmm yeah but plenty of components use $mosconfig_live_site to create the URL right?.... well actually I should still try since actually I still have redirection from my old URL but unfortunately I had to change the config of artio as well so the URLs are not similar and I wouldn't be redirected to the right pages...
