Joomla group Boston
Does anyone want to start a Joomla group in either Boston Ma or Providence RI
Re: Joomla group Boston
Sure. I'm not too far from Providence, but our core PHP group currently numbers about a half-dozen.
A JUG would likely attract more people in Boston/Cambridge. Providence also has a monthly Geek Dinner that splits off into all directions after the initial presentations. Could start JUG conversations there. The next one's this Wednesday (6/20 @ 5:30) at AS220.

I am just an admin and an end user but if I could help, then count me in.

I would like to come where is AS220
Re: Joomla group Boston
AS220 is on 110 Empire St. in Downcity, Exit 22A off 95. It's a non-profit artist space, but they have a nice bar, WiFi and good tacos/quesadillas.

and the Providence Geeks web site is http://www.providencegeeks.org. It's open to anyone and it's free to enter. They just like to have a heads up about how many will be attending. You can confirm on their blog.
It's on-street paid parking in that area, but the meters are off after 6.
I'll can bring a laptop, some example sites and a test installation if anyone would like to discuss Joomla.

Re: Joomla group Boston
I am interested...is this B-JUG (Boston Joomla Users Group) getting some traction? I am in Central Mass -- a joomla-aholic that knows enough to be dangerous and not quite enough to be useful. But I hope to change that soon!

Hi,
I'm looking for a Joomla specialist/consultant in Boston to help me with some basic questions. I'm trying to put together a community site with Joomla and I'm having a hard time figuring out what the best practices are for what I want to do, so I'd like to meet in person with a Joomla specialist. Is anyone here interested?

Re: Joomla group Boston
We have done a dozen joomla sites and have a number of other local fairly advanced developers doing sites who might
be interested in such a group -- but some where beyond Boston - maybe more central like Wooster
We might also be interested in connectiong with developers in Northern CT or Southern VT or NH

I like that area -- it is just down the street from me. Depending on the size of the group, I'd even offer to meet at my house a time or two to get us rolling. I'm in Northborough

Worcester might work: it's about an hour's drive for me.

Re: Joomla group Boston
A Joomla Day or JUG in Boston would be great. What is required to get this accomplished? I want to help in any way that I can. Maybe a New England Users Group or Joomla Day?

Re: Joomla group Boston
Not much, really, but the first is always the hardest. It's just about setting a mutually convenient time and place for a New England JUG. Time-wise, I'm flexible, but I'm not up to snuff about locations that'll work well in Boston or Worcester. Speaking of which...
If anyone's interested, I'm going to briefly go over Joomla! 1.5 and the new framework's versatility with our small PHP Meetup group in Providence on November 7 @ 7pm. The group organizer is going to present Drupal 5.x, setting up either a stimulating comparative framework discussion, or a jaunt to the cafe down the street for a beer. It's free, of course. You can sign up and RSVP on the Meetup page if you'd like to stop by. (http://php.meetup.com/338/).
@ Saravalli: Providence Geeks is a larger monthly meeting of tech amateurs and professionals from the area, with an emphasis on presenting local startup projects and applications, networking and sharing ideas.
