need guidance on converting several static np sites

Post by alpineer » Tue Oct 09, 2007 11:28 am

Hi,

I have several non-profit sites I maintain. They are all static html, with maybe a bit of php for includes and such. I'd like to start moving them all to joomla, but maintaining as much as possible the current design.

I'm not looking for anyone to do this for me, but someone to help guide me through it so I learn how to do it. Maybe someone who would be willing to exchange email addresses so I could write with questions and point them to the site in progress.

Any offers?

Thanks!

Hi there ~

I've converted several sites to Joomla from static, and the simplest answer for me was to copy/paste in my old content. Of course, the tricky part is to first map your existing content to Joomla sections and categories.

You might also try the Mass Content extenion. I haven't actually used it, but it might be worth a look.

Hello,

I sent you PM with one possible solution.  Also, you may want to investigate "Beauty in Design" as they have a subscription tutorial series that appears to include static html to Joomla conversion.

http://beautyindesign.com/tutorial_club
The specific series I am refering is http://beautyindesign.com/tutorial/temp ... joomla.php

It is labeled intermediate to advanced, but it may be within your level... definately a step abive me.  Also, I do not yet have dreamwearver.

Cheers,
Steve
