forum.joomla.org not respecting Ignore Boards checkboxes

Post by Dylan1968 » Tue Aug 14, 2007 11:56 am

Just a minor issue, but a rather unpleasant one.

I'm on Firefox, logged in to forum.joomla.org and then I'll try to check all Forums that I'm not interested in. Basically this is every single forum underneath International Zone. I'm only interested in English posts. I do speak Dutch but I am also not interested in Dutch.

So I'll just put all of these on the Ignore boards preferences. Seems pretty straightforward. Click Profile\ Ignoreboards and then check all boxes for the forums I'm not interested in. Click Change profile button at the bottom of the page.

Page reloads and I scroll down to check that it is still what I have selected. All seems okay. Then I click on "show unread posts" and I get all unread posts, including some in Dutch, Polish, Russian or something else that is abacadabra to me.

I go back to Profile\ Ignoreboards and now when I scroll down I see only the first items I checked are still checked. Further down the page, i.e. Welsh Forum at the very bottom is UNchecked. I'm sure I checked that I checked it ;)

Ehm? Maybe there is a maximum set for the number of boards one can ignore?

Or do I need to set this in IE instead of FF? Edit: Nope, same behaviour in IE

Due to this being a 'hack' of core SMF, I expect their are limitations. If I get a chance, I will look into it though.

Yes, 100 from memory .... which means that you can't block all the non-English boards on this site.

Dylan,

I found this post, it may help us:
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,7744.0.html

I too feel a bit overwhelmed when I come here via the unread posts link and I get pages and pages of posts, many that I can't even read. So I'm glad there is a solution, one that has to be maintained if an English speaking board is added, but nonetheless it works.
