This forum seems to censor negative comments about Joomla

I've been having some horrible problems with Joomla 1.5 and have become very frustrated with it. I've vented quite a bit in my posts about my troubles but in each post I have also asked specific questions directed at finding/fixing the problems.

It seems however that the moderators of this forum want to censor any and all negative comments I've made about Joomla by deleting my posts. This type of censorship is wrong. If Joomla and it's support community is so good...then by all means hear my rants and help me fix the problems, don't just delete my posts and act like there is nothing wrong with it.

My question in this post is;

Where can I find the experts in this forum?

I'm not a moderator, but I did answer your first post this morning. As you can see in my response, I asked that you not double post, pointing you to the rules, indicating double posts are not allowed. I reported your post as a double post. My guess is that is why it was removed.

In case you were really attached to your rant, it is contained in my response. Those words were never lost. They will forever grace the forums of Joomla!. Those who read will know: you lost it, in less than one day's time.

If you continue to act like this, eventually you will be banned. Here's the story why:

Story time: Joomla! is fueled by volunteer efforts. It should come as no surprise to you that reading responses like this are not fun. Since people tend to volunteer in places that are fun, your rants hurt recruitment. If allowed to continue, your rants would cause more and more volunteers to leave. Eventually, there would be you, ranting and freaking out, and those who are actually trying to use Joomla! but need a little help. Since you don't seem very helpful, even those asking for help will stop coming. Now, how much fun is it to rant in an empty forum?

All of this can be circumvented if you please be nice.  You're call, no one else's.

The moderators of this forum want to eliminate double posts because having them around clutters the board and makes it more difficult for people who are using the search function to find answers.  Double posting out of impatience and frustration and, in doing so, slinging insults at forum members only makes us want to delete them all the more.

If you want to participate here, then you are welcome to do so by our rules. 

If you don't like the rules, nobody is forcing you to stay. 

Amy has answered your one thread, trying to help you.  I deleted the others because they were duplicates of same question, contained insulting language and had no responses.

I also sent you a pm to notify you of why I removed the posts, nowhere mentioning that you could not say bad things about 1.5.  Interesting.  In my pm I also gave you an email address you could use to contact me if you had concerns about the message or the rules.

Good luck with finding your answers.  Please don't double post again.

In regards to my rant...I'm willing to bet you lose it at least once a month too. I'm just trying to get this silly Joomla fixed for business purposes. Not to run some silly blog.

Just so you know, this help forum is entirely volunteer based.  You might want to think twice about insulting the software, the forum moderators, and the forum users if you want to continue to receive any help at all.

I gathered from your post of many duplicates that you were "done" with Joomla and therefore I'm not sure why you're still concerned about receiving help.

The "censorship" on this forum, as you call it, makes the Joomla help forum one of the friendliest and most useful on the Internet.  I have never in my life seen a forum without a single flame post, where users are consistently protected from being berated, insulted, etc.

I won't stand for any of our users being insulted, but fortunately most of our users know when they're being abused and simply choose not to help.  Many also respect and appreciate the moderators, and probably won't spring to the aid of someone who insults the moderators.

You are implying that I'm am insulting the moderators. Disagreeing with a moderator about pulling my post off the board, especially when it contained a legitimate question is a far cry from "insulting". I was protesting. Please direct me to my comments that insult the moderators.

Amy, "Self-Smarted" is her own creation. Look under her picture. "Dr." was a typo. I mean to write "Dear".

After re-installing Joomla and losing my database tables, I followed Loyd's advice and check PHPAdmin to see if I had any "bak_" backups of my tables. I did. I dropped all of my "jos_" files and I renamed all of my "bak_" files to "jos_". This did not immediately fix all of my problems. My Joomla admin control panel showed everything back in order, but when I went to preview my site I was once again greeted with “Direct Access to this location is not allowed” Man!

I wandered into my Extensions>Plug-In manager and enabled the "System - Legacy" plugin. THIS WORKED! Everything appears back in order. I only wish I knew why this plug-in that was not enabled on the default install would all of a sudden cause me all of this grief. Also, I don't think I have any need for the System - Legacy plugin and would like to disabled it, but I am afraid to at this point.

What caused all of this? And how do I know that it is truly fixed?

You will find the people in this thread are the kind of people who give lots of time to help people be successful with Joomla!.

But, we draw the line, too. We are not your punching bag and your behavior has been reprehensible all day long. To this very moment, you have offered nothing encouraging. Your problems are of your own creation, your own ignorance, your own impatience. Your treatment of people is beneath our minimum standards.

In the first day of Joomla! v 1.5, there were nearly 25,000 downloads. That is showing no sign of decreasing. We cannot help everyone. Why should we help you?
Here's your chance: Quit making excuses and apologize.

Hehe.  You know I was just going to respond similarly to Amy, so I feel like it's redundant, but here goes.

I don't think you, zippy, understand the concept of a volunteer help forum.  There are hundreds of new posts asking for help here every hour.  There are only so many people answering them.  Whenever I sit down to read the forum, when I'm done scanning for rule violations and stuff (my moderator duties) I then try to pick a handful of questions to answer. 

There are literally hundreds I know the answer to that I can choose from.  Obviously, I don't have time to answer hundreds... I've got work, kids, and i have to sleep 8 hours a night.  Ok 6.

Anyway, when I choose 10 or whatever posts to answer... why should I pick yours?  There are plenty of nice people asking for help.  And what if I get it wrong?  I wouldn't want anyone to call it "butt brain advice".  Why would you insult the person who at least took the time out of their own day to ATTEMPT to help you?  You're wondering why the "experts" aren't springing to your aid.

Again I will say please direct me to my comments that insult the moderators. My "butt brain" comment was not direct any anyone specific. This was intentional as I do not desire to personally attack or hurt anyone. Amy on the other hand is calling me ignorant. Where's the logic in that? I'm not phased by it. I just think it's odd coming from a moderator who opposes lobbing insults.

I reported your other duplicate post both when you posted it the first time when it was just rather rude, and then again I reported it when you edited it to be even more hostile, disrespectful, topped off to include an absolutely ridiculous amount of angry smiley face emoticons.  ( )

Please follow the rules.  Please be respectful of others.  It is not as if you are being asked to comply with anything unreasonable. There are about 165,500 users that have not had any sort of problem at all in following the very simple rules of this forum.  Good luck with your site.

I am very pleased your issue got resolved. This thread has wandered too many times from its subject so with the resolution I am locking this thread.
