What happened around here, things look different?

Post by deck2deck » Fri Feb 15, 2008 2:51 pm

I didn't see a place in the Discussion forum to discuss this...

perhaps I'm missing something...

But of course I've noticed that the Forum interface has changed.

I missed the announcement on that (why was it done -- are there improved features? What are they?) but I would like to suggest a change already: in the bar across the top of this section -- on my browser (IE 6), the bar is dark grey and the links contained within are blue -- VERY difficult to read unless my face is about 6" from the screen... may I humbly suggest a different color combination with a better contrast? I would imagine that color-blind people cannot see the links at all (links = Board Index, breadcrumbs, User Control Panel, FAQ, etc.).

One more thing: when searching the forums now and using the search field at the top of my screen -- and I find an article I want to read -- when I click on it, either nothing happens or I get taken back to the main page (basically rendering the forums useless to me). Any clues as to what's happening? (If it's user error, what am I doing wrong?)

Thanks!

My biggest gripe with the change is that the text jumps all over the page whilst it is loading. Once I click a forum post, I start reading and then bang, the text size changes and I have to refocus to find out where I was. I am on a pretty decent broadband speed too and still this happens.

It's like the styles don't kick in until the page is nearly completely loaded.

I must admit though, easier to read on the whole :)

Just realized that the issue with the lack of contrast on the top bar is in IE6 -- it displays well in IE7 and Firefox. I haven't tested any other browsers, but just FYI to the development team (in case that helps you to fix it). Maybe I'm the only one still using IE6.... lol... :-[
