Hi all,
I am a new member, but I will have to work a lot on joomla (a ong term work), with a Malagasy local team.
We are most used with traditional mailing lists and the joomla.org only have web based forums.
I would suggest the introduction of Mailing Lists.
No servers? We have one under used. A dedicated low cost server, located in France.
The request would be to point lists.joomla.org to our server and then we could host and manage the mailing lists.
I think in long term cooperation, without any advertising banners (like the ones in SourceForge), any "money related" things. Without reward, then.
Well... some in here might have questions, suggestions,...

Thanks for your suggestions.
We're quite happy handling our own lists, as they are only for internal communication anyway.

Re: RFC: lists.joomla.org
Ok.
So can I request a [joomla-users] mailing list? (resp. joomla-devel and so on...)
We have, here in madagascar, very low bandwidth, and charging the forum is really slow. Email might be lighter (is people dont post HTML messages...)
It's a necessity for productivity, here.
I take the example of the Ubuntu project: Although there are forums which mirror the mailing list, We'd rather use the mailing lists for bandwidth saving.

Re: RFC: lists.joomla.org
You can always follow the dev list: http://groups.google.com/group/joomla-devel
.. but I am not sure that is going to be much help to you. Sorry.
