Hmmm...let's find a point in making a thread for complaints that have already been made by many others.

We already realize that this is not working too well for many of you, and this is not a surprise. The Administrators are working hard to get functionality, usablity, performance, and template issues fixed. Please just be patient.

I asked another member this and I suppose I can ask again.

Would you rather have a forum that works so that you can get answers to your questions, or a forum that looks great and doesn't work at all? We have priorities for this forum, and theming is not one of them. Sorry!

Yes, buddy, I got that. :)
The reason that we have a theme is because it is not that dificult to go with the default theme for the site in the first place.

You have to have a theme to view the site...or at least, some CSS styling. This is a heck of a lot better than what it could be.

I don't know, I'm not having any problems browsing the site or forum. Sometimes finding what I'm looking for is a bit a of a challenge, but that's not the admin's fault, it's more the way the members are posting their information.

I'm the webmaster for five different sites right now, and I know the frustrations in trying to work things around to make the sites as user friendly as possible, but you can't please everyone. You do the best you can, and that's it.

To the Admins, moderators, and staff: Personally, this is a great site. My compliments on the work you're doing.

DWBellows,
Naturally, this is appreciated. THank you for your confidence in our work. I know that the admins are working hard to still make it work even better, as well as the moderators re-organizing the topics through the boards. We're getting there, but it's taking a bit of time, since we have so few a number of volunteers.

Thank you again!
Cheers!

The way I see it, the staff here is concentrating on giving us the most up to date add ons, themes, modules, and so on.

Joomla works great for most of the sites that use, and yeah, it rocks. It does have its short comings, but then name a software that doesn't.

The OP was more about how this particular site is laid out and looks, more or less saying that it might give a bad impression to new people looking at it for the first time. (At least I think that's what the point was.) However, I'll point out that I've looked over many sites of this type (software for making websites) and this is by far the easiest to navigate and understand.

Meh...To each his/her own. :)

Personally, I don't care how it looks. I've been with Joomla since birth, but I do question the functionality. Now, when I search, I only get topics and have no way of knowing if they are from 2005 or 2008. This ends up being very time consuming and therefore very frustrating and so far, not very productive. I also find when searching, I consistantly click on a result only to be taken back to a forum and not the result.

I'm a layman, who is not very technically proficient, so lived on these forums in order to build the Joomla sites I've built over the years. It was challenging enough before, but now, between not being able to find the help that got me this far and being at that in-between stage with few extensions for 1.5, questionable stability now no matter what the future holds and always hearing it's useless to build with anything else as 1.0 will all be antiquated soon...ayyyiii...if I weren't so invested, I'd most definitely seek an alternative. It's pretty difficult for a layman these days. You wait and wait and wait, but how long can you wait?

Sorry, but it's been a very frustrating day. I can't build one site while waiting for either ijoomla or rokzine to catch up. I can't build finish another site until I find some answers I can't find and I must build a third site in 1.0 because there are no vertical market components in 1.5. So short on patience after months of waiting and short on patience that help is now so hard to come by. And yes, if you look I at my posts, I do try to give back as best I can, especially for people in my boat...beginners. I'm still a beginner years later. And in that regard, I have the utmost respect for this community and the concept of open source in general. Love it in fact even though I am challenged beyond my capacities on a daily basis. But help? Soon?
